Are you passionate about cycling and looking for a way to help others enjoy the benefits of cycling? The Transportation Department is thrilled to announce that we are hosting a 3-day League Cycling Instructor (LCI) Seminar from June 19 to June 21, 2026.

This is a rare opportunity to join the ranks of nearly 7,000 certified educators nationwide. Whether you want to help children ride to school safely, assist adults in commuting confidently with traffic, or teach the fundamentals of bike maintenance, this seminar provides the tools and credentials you need to make a real impact.

What You’ll Learn

Facilitated by veteran League Cycling Coach Leta Highsmith, this intensive training focuses on “teaching how to teach.” The curriculum covers:

• Confident Road Riding: Navigating traffic legally and safely.
• Bike Handling: Mastering avoidance maneuvers and group riding dynamics.
• Inclusive Education: Tailoring safety skills for all ages and experience levels.
• Trail & Path Safety: How to share infrastructure harmoniously with others.

How to Join

To qualify for the seminar, participants must have completed the Smart Cycling Complete class, hold an individual League Membership ($50/year), and possess a basic knowledge of bike maintenance and roadway riding.
