The ncsu.aimsparking.com website is down each night from 11:30 PM to 2 AM and will be closed for student permit sales on the following dates and times:

Parking Permit Information

Please Note: There are a limited number of permits sold. Permits are sold based on the number of completed credit hours you have and the availability of parking spaces. To purchase a parking permit students must be registered for courses.

Fall 2023 permits expire on December 31, 2023.

  • First-year students (with 0+ credit hours) and transfers will not be able to log into their parking account until the morning of their sale, based on completed credit hours.
  • Only completed credit hours are used to determine priority for campus parking. Verify your credit hours by checking the Total Units section of your Degree Audit in MyPack Portal. Any concerns about credit hours should be directed to the Office of Registration and Records.
  • Permits sell out fast- be punctual to the sale. If the permit type you want sells out, add yourself to the waiting list to be notified when a space becomes available.
  • Ensure you have all vehicle (plate, state, year, make, model), insurance (insurance company, policy number), and billing (card number, billing address) information on hand at the time of the sale.
  • All Fall 2023 permits are valid from August 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023.

The Resident Storage (RS) parking permit is only available to first-year students of resident housing. This permit allows parking in the Resident Storage Lot on Varsity Drive and is sold via a permit lottery.

Lottery Process

  • The student adds their name to the lottery waiting list using the steps below.
  • Transportation randomly selects students who are eligible to purchase the RS permit.
  • Transportation sends an email notification to students alerting them that they may purchase the RS permit. 
  • Students have 3 business days to log in at ncsu.aimsparking.com to purchase the permit.
  • Any permits not purchased during this three-day window will be forfeited.
  • Transportation will continue the random drawing and notification process until the permit is sold out.

Lottery Sign-Up Process

  • Go to ncsu.aimsparking.com.
  • Log in as a student using the NCSU Shibboleth Login and the student's NCSU Unity ID and Password.
  • Select Order/Renew Permit.
  • Read and agree to the Terms of Service.
  • Select Join Waiting List on the Resident Storage - Fall - Lottery option.
  • Transportation will send a confirmation email to the student's @ncsu email address at the end of the business day.

First-year students with less than 24 completed credit hours who wish to bring their car to campus and are living in Alexander, Bagwell, Becton, Berry, Bowen, Bragaw, Carroll, Gold, Lee, Metcalf, North, Owen, Sullivan, Syme, Tucker, Turlington, Watauga, Welch, Wolf Ridge, and Wood should participate in the permit lottery.

First-year students with any number of credit hours who wish to bring their car to campus and are living in Greek Village, Avent Ferry Complex, ES King Village, Western Manor Apartments, or Wolf Village Apartments should not participate in the permit lottery. Students living in these residence halls may purchase parking permits in close proximity to the residence halls with zero credit hours. Please see the Residential Student Permits section below for more information about these permit types.

To purchase a parking permit:

  • All prior citations must be paid in advance, and the student should not have any outstanding parking fees at the student bank. 
  • Students must be registered for classes for the Fall 2023 semester.
  • Students will provide their insurance company name, insurance policy number, plate number, state, year, make, and model of their vehicle.

  • Commuter permits are not valid in any hourly pay area on campus (including the ground floors of CD and DD).
  • Student commuter parking deck permits (CB, CC, CD, DD, W) can cross-park in other student parking decks after 3 p.m.
  • Commuter students living in close proximity to campus are not eligible for an on-campus parking permit- please see section 2.3.2.7 of our ordinances for specific locations.

  • Permits are virtual and your license plate is your parking credential.
  • No physical permit is issued to display in your vehicle.
  • If you do not have a license plate that is identical to the plate on the rear of your vehicle you must park so that your license plate faces the drive lane. If you wish to back into your parking space you may purchase a front vanity plate for $10 via your Parking Account.

Plate orders are placed on the 15th of each month. Processing time could take up to 3 weeks after orders are placed. You will be notified via email when your plate is available for pickup.

What do I need in order to make a purchase?

  • Unity ID.
  • Unity password.
  • Vehicle make, model, and year.
  • License plate number.
  • Insurance Company and Policy Number
  • No unpaid citations.
  • Permit type you wish to purchase.
  • Debit or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express).
    Note: You can cancel your transaction anytime prior to submitting your payment information.
