NCDOT Launches A Multimodal Connected Vehicle Pilot Program In Wake County

The N.C. Department of Transportation is launching a $2 million project to improve safety and mobility around North Carolina State University with the Multimodal Connected Vehicle (CV) Pilot. Key roads like Hillsborough Street and Western Boulevard will see updates, including new infrastructure and a mobile app for pedestrians and drivers. The pilot uses advanced CV technology to enhance safety, reduce traffic congestion, and promote environmental sustainability. The results will help shape future transportation improvements across North Carolina. For more details, visit the project website.

CV Technology

Through infrastructure and mobile devices, CV technology enables communication between vehicles, transit, and pedestrians. The YU2X app, connected to 27 signalized intersections near NC State University, provides real-time alerts to improve safety and traffic flow for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. Download YU2X from the Apple Store for iOS devices or Google Play for Android devices.
