Lighten Up, Wolfpack!

Now that fall is here, the days are starting to get shorter. This year, daylight saving time ends on Sunday, November 2. Since commutes to campus will be a little darker, we want to ensure everyone stays safe.  The Transportation Department and the WolfTrails program encourage all Wolfpackers to lighten up!

Lighten Up, Wolfpack is NC State’s version of the annual Lighten Up, Raleigh safety campaign by Commute Smart Raleigh.  The program highlights ways to stay safe this winter, encouraging individuals to be visible by wearing reflective clothing or carrying a flashlight during their commute.

Also, when riding a bike in the dark, be sure to have a white front light visible from 300 feet and a red rear light or reflective clothing that can be seen from the same distance.

We will distribute bike lights in Stafford Commons on October 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., while supplies last, to ensure cyclists are prepared for the darker commute. Stop by and see us to pick up a light and stay visible while walking, biking, or waiting at a bus stop this winter. You will also be able to register your bike at this time.

Please contact the WolfTrails Program Manager, Gabrielle Bubin, at ncsu-wolftrails@ncsu.edu if you have any questions.
