Transportation Summer Update
The Transportation Department has had a busy summer improving amenities on campus in preparation for the fall semester. Take a look at a few of the projects we’ve been working on.
Additional Bike Rack Installation
Biking is a popular way students navigate around campus and they need a place to park their bikes. Below are some locations where we have either added bike racks or replaced temporary bike racks with permanent racks.
Parking Lot Improvements
The Motor Pool Lot had substantial wear and tear that needed to be addressed. There were alligator cracks, causing the asphalt to crumble and break apart, potholes, and dents or bumps, especially where the buses park. This lot was completely repaved giving Fleet Services a brand new surface to park their vehicles.
As general maintenance to extend the life of the Wolf Village Parking Lot, the surface was sealcoated making it look as if the lot was repaved. Sealcoating adds a layer of protection to the lot that blocks out water, and oils, and minimizes U.V. damage which can break down the asphalt.
Bus Stop Upgrades
The Wolfline transports hundreds of passengers each day and many of the stops did not have any place to sit while waiting for a bus. Simme-seats and benches were installed at a few stops and additional stops are being reviewed to determine if and how seating can be installed.
To help keep the bus stops clean, trash receptacles have been added to a couple of stops.
A brick standing area was added to a couple of bus stops so waiting riders do not have to stand in the grass, dirt, or mud.
