Chris Dobek Receives Professional Excellence Award

Chris Dobek received the Professional Excellence Award for Operations at the IPMI Conference and Expo held in Columbus, OH, June 9-12.

Chris Dobek, Assistant Director for Parking Services and Facilities Operations at NC State University, brings over 17 years of experience. Initially serving in University Housing leadership roles, Chris transitioned to Transportation, overseeing Parking Services, Enforcement, and Maintenance with a team of 29. NC State, home to 35,000 students, manages over 20,000 parking spaces across nine decks.

Chris is recognized for his leadership in implementing innovative parking solutions. He spearheaded NC State’s successful transition to a license plate recognition (LPR) system and virtual permits. His expertise extends beyond campus, and he shares insights at industry conferences and through publications.

Chris leverages his extensive network to enhance departmental effectiveness and is known for fostering a collaborative culture. During the pandemic, he coordinated campus COVID testing efforts and volunteers, demonstrating his adaptability and commitment to community service. Additionally, Chris contributes as an Assistant Fire Chief and is a credentialed EMT.

His strategic vision includes utilizing LPR data for operational efficiencies and emergency planning. Chris also led initiatives like front license plate programs and virtual event parking permits, streamlining processes and enhancing customer satisfaction.
