City of Oaks Marathon Traffic Impacts Near Campus

The annual City of Oaks Marathon will be held this Sunday, Nov. 3. The races will begin with staggered start times from 6:55 a.m. to 7:20 a.m. Participants will be on Hillsborough Street and side streets, requiring roads to be closed between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Please be aware of the following road closures around campus as you make your plans:

  • Western Boulevard from Ashe Avenue to S. Boylan Avenue (westbound only)
    • Closed: 7:00 a.m.
    • Open: 8:30 a.m.
  • Hillsborough Street from Pullen Road to Glenwood Avenue
    • Closed: 7:00 a.m.
    • Open: 2:00 p.m.
  • Ashe Avenue from Hillsborough Street to Western Boulevard
    • Closed: 7:00 a.m.
    • Open: 9:00 a.m.
  • Clark Avenue from Oberlin Road to Brooks Avenue
    • Closed: 7:00 a.m.
    • Open: 9:15 a.m.
  • Pogue Street/Everett Avenue/Gardner Street around the Rose Garden
    • Closed: 7:15 a.m.
    • Open: 9:15 a.m.
  • Oberlin Road from Clark Avenue to Hillsborough Street
    • Closed: 7:15 a.m.
    • Open: 9:15 a.m.
  • Clark Avenue from Dixie Trail to Faircloth Street
    • Closed: 7:30 a.m.
    • Open: 9:45 a.m.
  • Faircloth Street from Beaver Dam Road to Hillsborough Street
    • Closed: 7:30 a.m.
    • Open: 1:30 p.m.
  • Hillsborough Street from Pullen Road to I-440 northbound ramp
    • Closed: 7:30 a.m.
    • Open: 2:00 p.m.
  • Gorman Street from Sullivan Drive towards Hillsborough Street
    • Closed: 7:30 a.m.
    • Open: 1:30 p.m.
