Fall 2025 Lottery and Permit Sales Dates
- First-year Residential Lottery
- First-year residents are only eligible to purchase permits via the lottery.
- First-year Residential Lottery Opens June 10, 2025, at 10 a.m.
- First-year Residential Lottery Closes July 31, 2025, at 3 p.m.
- Lottery Drawing Date: Aug. 1, 2025, at Noon
- Sales dates for returning students, transfers, and first-year commuters
- Graduate Students: July 24, 2025, at 10 a.m.
- 90+ Credit Hours: July 29, 2025, at 10 a.m.
- 60+ Credit Hours: July 31, 2025, at 10 a.m.
- 30+ Credit Hours: Aug. 5, 2025, at 10 a.m.
- 0+ Credit Hours: Aug. 7, 2025, at 10 a.m.
The ncsu.aimsparking.com website is down each night from 11:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. and will be closed for student permit sales on the following dates and times:

Parking Permit Information
Please note: There are a limited number of permits sold. Permits are sold based on the number of completed credit hours you have and the availability of parking spaces. To purchase a parking permit, students must be registered for courses.
Fall 2025 permits expire on December 31, 2025.
- Only completed credit hours are used to determine priority for campus parking. Verify your credit hours by checking the Total Units section of your Degree Audit in MyPack Portal. Any concerns about credit hours should be directed to the Office of Registration and Records.
- Permits sell out fast, so be punctual about the sale. If the permit type you want sells out, add yourself to the waiting list to be notified when a space becomes available.
- Ensure you have all vehicle (plate, state, year, make, model), insurance (insurance company, policy number), and billing (card number, billing address) information on hand at the time of the sale.
- All Fall 2025 permits are valid from August 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.
Permit Categories
First-Year Residential Lottery
First-year students living in Alexander, Bagwell, Becton, Berry, Bowen, Bragaw, Carroll, Gold, Lee, Metcalf, North, Owen, Sullivan, Syme, Tucker, Turlington, University Towers, Watauga, Welch, and Wood will be notified if selected to purchase an RS Lot permit.
First-year students living in Greek Village, Avent Ferry Complex, ES King Village, Western Manor Apartments, Wolf Ridge, or Wolf Village Apartments will be notified if selected to purchase a permit near these residence halls.

Once all permits have been claimed, students not selected to purchase a permit will receive an email.
The Resident Storage (RS) parking permit is only available to first-year residents of resident housing. It allows parking in the Resident Storage Lot on Varsity Drive, which is sold via a permit lottery.

Lottery Process
- The student adds their name to the lottery waiting list using the steps below.
- Transportation randomly selects students who are eligible to purchase the RS permit.
- Transportation sends an email notification to students, alerting them that they may purchase the RS permit.
- Students will have three business days to log in at ncsu.aimsparking.com to purchase the permit.
- Any permits not purchased during this three-day window will be forfeited.
- Transportation will continue the random drawing and notification process until the permit is sold out.
Lottery Sign-up Process
- Go to ncsu.aimsparking.com.
- Log in as a student using the NCSU Shibboleth Login and the student’s NCSU Unity ID and Password.
- Select Order/Renew Permit.
- Read and agree to the Terms of Service.
- Select Join Waiting List on the Resident Storage – Fall – Lottery option.
- Transportation will send a confirmation email to the student’s @ncsu email address at the end of the business day.
To purchase a parking permit
- All prior citations must be paid in advance, and the student should not have any outstanding parking fees at the student bank.
- Students must be registered for classes for the Fall 2025 semester.
- Students will provide the name of their insurance company, insurance policy number, plate number, state, year, make, and vehicle model.
Residential Student Permits (Returning Undergraduate Students, Transfers, and Graduate Students)
- Residential permits are not valid in any hourly pay area on campus (including the pay areas on CD and DD ground floors).

Permits are virtual, and there is no physical decal to display in your vehicle. Park so that your license plate faces the drive lane. If you wish to back into a parking space, check out the Vanity License Plate program below.

Commuter Student Permits (All Commuter Students)
- First-year commuter students are only eligible to purchase a Varsity or Fringe Lot permit.
- Overnight parking is not permitted in any commuter areas. For additional information regarding parking rules and regulations, please see the Transportation Ordinances.
- Commuter permits are not valid in any hourly pay area on campus (including the ground floors of CD and DD).
- Students with commuter parking deck permits (CB, CC, CD, DD, W) can cross-park in other student parking decks after 3 p.m.
- Commuter students living near campus are not eligible for an on-campus parking permit. For specific locations, please see section 2.3.6 of our ordinances.

Front Vanity License Plate Program
- Permits are virtual, and your license plate is your parking credential.
- No physical permit is issued to display in your vehicle.
- If your license plate is not identical to the plate on the rear of your vehicle, you must park so that your plate faces the drive lane. If you wish to back into your parking space, you may purchase a front vanity plate for $10 in the Transportation office.
Plate orders are placed on the 15th of each month. Processing time could take up to 3 weeks after the order is placed.

What do I need to make a purchase?
- Unity ID.
- Unity password.
- Vehicle make, model, and year.
- License plate number.
- Insurance Company and Policy Number
- No unpaid citations.
- Permit type you wish to purchase.
- Debit or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express).
