Carpool FAQ

Student and employee carpools are a great way to help the environment while saving money. Below are the frequently asked questions about forming a carpool.

For questions, please contact us at 919-515-1613 or email WolfTrails at ncsu-wolftrails@ncsu.edu.

Student Carpools

Carpools with only two students will be disbanded, and the remaining student is eligible for a Varsity Lot permit. Carpools of more than two students may continue if the remaining members pay the balance on the permit within one week of the student(s) leaving the carpool. If payment is not received, the carpool will be disbanded.

The purpose of the carpool program is to reduce the number of vehicles on campus, so the carpool program benefits are only extended to groups with more than one vehicle.

Wolfline provides reliable service to campus. Students who live near a bus stop are encouraged to take the Wolfline to support the University’s mission of sustainability.

Verify your eligibility using this map. Enter your address using the search function in your screen’s upper right corner. If your address falls within the blue-shaded area, you are not eligible for the carpool permit.

By being in the carpool program, you are automatically enrolled in the WolfTrails program, which provides six free daily parking permits per participant per semester for the times you need to drive separately.

Employee Carpools

Carpools of two people, with only one university employee, are not eligible for the carpool parking credential. However, university employees are eligible for WolfTrails when carpooling.

No. All carpool participants must relinquish their current parking credentials when applying for the carpool permit. Please note the carpool privilege provides access to all B lots.

By being in the carpool program, you are automatically enrolled in the WolfTrails program, which provides 24 free daily parking permits per participant per year. Each participant may purchase additional day parking privileges for $6 each.
